A Class Divided……integers that is.

Once upon a time, Mrs. Kerr’s class learned how to divide integers…… then we played GAMES!!

We started off the class with bell work that consisted of some multiplication and division of integers, graded yesterday’s assignment, and then went to work playing the game for the majority of the hour. The game was identical to yesterday’s in the fact that it was similar to “War”, but instead of multiplying the integers they had to divide them. There is nothing more exciting than hearing the students arguing about who has the larger number or arguing about who is correct. Talk about effective teaching and learning and I’m not really even having to do anything! With approximately ten to fifteen minutes left in class, I gave them a worksheet with division problems and word problems. Most students finished it during class. A most excellent day!
