Here is part two of my modeling integers series. This time I am subtracting integers. Of course, I have also provided you with an amazing freebie that helps you step-by-step as well. Below the freebie are games that I have for sale that reinforce the skill of subtracting integers. Notice the hamburger frying on the stove in the background. lol! Yes, I am a multi-tasker. Actually, my camera battery ran down, so I started cooking supper while it charged. I hope you enjoy the video and freebie. Leave me a comment, to let me know what you think……..
It’s important that you understand that this video is just a very brief overview of how I actually teach integers. I understand how busy teachers are, and I for one don’t have time to watch a thirty minute video. I also wanted to only give you a general lesson, because I think it’s important to make lessons your own. My teaching is very fluid, depending on how my students are reacting and by my visual assessments as we are going through the lesson.

The following are games I have for purchase here, in my blog store, or in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. They are each only $2.50, a small price for the impact they will have on your students.
This is a great game that can be used in small groups or as a whole class. Students are given a four by four grid and are required to put numbers from a list in each grid square. The host of the game gives them an integer subtraction expression. Students must solve find the value and circle the answer on their grid. The first person to circle four in a row wins.

This is a great game that follows the same rules as the childhood classic card game “Go Fish”. The difference is that instead of having numbers or pictures that students pair, they have integer subtraction problems that they must figure the value of. The graphics are beautiful and very eye catching. Graphics by Scrappin Doodles.
