After much deliberation over how to teach two dimensional figures, I decided to just give them notes. I wrote and they wrote and we discussed all about two dimensional figures. The names of the different numbered sided polygons. We discussed the characteristics of a rectangle, square, parallelogram, and a rhombus. I made them make a Venn diagram comparing the characteristics of a parallelagram and a rhombus. I believe that the questions on the state test are only going to be, graph these points on the coordinate plane and then tell me wha t shape they make. We will go into more detail when we start to review for the state test after spring break. Tomorrow we will go over 3-dimensional shapes. Those I will go into with more detail because they are a PASS skill all by themselves. Today I found a great “I Have/Who Has” game for coordinate graphing that we will play the Friday before Christmas break! So excited for it, I think they will like it. I have to use Ms. Joseph’s document camera. A document camera will be my next donorschose.org project. There was no homework for this evening.
